I had a great time on the afternoon of February 15th - chatting with Jake Kerr on his podcast blxck.ink. Recently nominated for Active Citizen of the Year (Bunbury), Jake regularly chats with local identities. I'm not sure why he picked me (?) ... but it was a pleasure bouncing ideas around for an hour or so. It's very inspiring meeting young people who have discovered the power of positivity and how to manifest change in their life. As soon as the podcast is up I'll post a link ... that's when I actually work out how to do that! haha.
Don't you just love it when an opportunity arises to realise a long held dream? About 3 weeks ago my wife and I visited Wongan Hills for a mate's birthday party. Wongan is a small country town in the Western Australian wheatbelt region, about 175 kilometres north east of Perth and 350 kilometres from my coastal hometown of Bunbury. My mate's daughter (Chelsea Basham), won a Golden Guitar for best new talent at the Tamworth Country Music Awards in 2013 and her husband Kingsley Oldmeadows is the drummer for Human Nature and Dami Im. Together, they record as KingsDrifter - with songs on major streaming platforms. During the early 1980's, Perth's hottest live act was The Jets and Kingsley's father (Fenton Wilde) was the guitarist in that band. Well ... those three were performing on stage at the party with Mark Gale on bass. Mark has performed with Angry Anderson / Rose Tattoo, Doc Neeson (Angels), Boom Crash Opera plus his own band. The thrill for me was to get up on stage and sing a few numbers at the end of the night, joining those legends with my 12 string Godin and performing (amongst others) my new song Just For You. I wasn't in the same league as those guys but I was chuffed that the guys loved the song so much they wanted me to record it in Wongan Hills at Kingsleys studio.
